Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo is the proud home of over 2,000 animals, and has been at its current location for over 100 years. It has several truly unique exhibits. Visitors can see Elephants and other animals in the same open air enclosure. It is also the only place in Texas that visitors can view Koala’s. The Dallas Zoo is considered the “hottest” zoo in the United States, maintaining more than 70 different species of venomous and poisonous reptiles. This zoo has a variety of family friendly activities, including a nature exchange at the gift shop, where children earn points for natural items they bring in. They offer Lights Out Overnights, Twilight Safari Night Hikes and Family Nights. The Lacerte Family Children's Zoo in located inside the Dallas Zoo. The Children's Zoo offers pony rides, a petting area for farm animals and a discovery center. The Discovery Center offers regularly scheduled children's activities. The Dallas Zoo also has various encounters with the trainer’s and keepers to provide additional knowledge about any particular species that is on exhibit at the zoo. The entry prices are seasonal, from January 1 to February 28, the price of admission is only $5 for ages 3 up, with those below 3 free of charge. The rest of the year, it is $15 for adults, and $12 for seniors (65+), and children (3-11). There is a nominal parking fee of $8 per car, however, it is accessible via Dallas’s DART public transit system. This attraction is only 8.8 miles from our location.
