Dallas Fair Park

Dallas Fair Park

Dallas Fair park is a 277-acre park, and is home to numerous Museums including the African-American Museum, Perot Museum, Children’s Aquarium, Hall of State, Texas Discovery Gardens and the South Dallas Cultural Center. This cultural epicenter hosts live entertainment performances at the Music Hall, Gexa Energy Pavilion, Magnolia Lounge and at the Fair Park Band Shell. These performances run most weekends of the year, rain or shine. This is where you can find the Texas State Fair, Cotton bowl Stadium and Swan Boats. The Friends of Fair Park organization has also created a cell phone walking tour with over sixty different stops, all offering interesting and different facts about the various locations on the tour, and is available for both Android and iPhone users. Dallas Fair Park contains the World’s largest collection of 1930s Art Deco buildings, as well as many great examples of the Mid-Century Modern building style. This location is accessible by using the Dallas Area Rapid Transportation system, and by personal vehicle. There are over abundance of opportunities for breathing photos to be taken, including the Texas Star Ferris Wheel and Big Tex, a friendly cowboy who is at the Texas State Fair every year with a welcoming smile. This venue also hosts various festivals including Day 1 Dallas, which is a celebration on New Year’s Day. This festival celebrates families and has activities for everyone from the smallest child to the oldest adult. This large hub of activity is a mere 6.2 miles from our hotel.
